Equipment for New Cafés
Watch: La Marzocco KB90 Review
The ultimate espresso machine for high-volume coffee shops
The Equipment List
Most new coffee shops need the same core lineup. The exact models depend on your menu and how many drinks you expect to serve.
-
Espresso machine. Two groups for most cafés, three for high volume.
-
Espresso grinders. At least one for your house espresso. Many cafés add a second for decaf or a single origin.
-
Batch brewer and grinder. For drip coffee, often the fastest drink you sell.
-
Hot water dispenser. For tea and Americanos without tying up the espresso machine.
-
Automatic tamper. A Puqpress keeps every shot consistent.
-
Water filtration. Protects every machine on the bar.
Plan the Utilities Early
The most expensive surprises in a buildout are electrical, plumbing and drainage. Commercial espresso machines usually need a dedicated circuit, a filtered water line and a drain nearby.
Bring us your floor plan before your contractor finalizes the electrical and plumbing, and we'll give you the requirements for every machine on your list.

Questions We Get
How much does espresso equipment cost for a new coffee shop?
It depends on your volume and the brands you choose. On our site, two-group Slayer machines start at $20,400 and Eversys super-automatics start at $15,700. Grinders, a batch brewer and a hot water dispenser add to that. Tell us your menu and we'll put together a full equipment list.
Can I finance the equipment?
Yes. You can apply on our Financing page, under Equipment in the menu.
When should I order?
Lead times vary by brand and configuration, especially for custom colors. Talk to us as soon as your lease is signed so the equipment arrives before your opening date.
